The Exotic Maqui Berry

We are left in the dark many times when it comes to fruit that other countries have. It seems like every few months or so we hear about fruit that another part of the world grows. These fruits are exotic to us and have many health benefits. When I was growing up, all I can remember is apples, oranges, bananas, strawberries, blue berries, raspberries, watermelon, and cantaloupe. I am not sure if this was because these were what my parents liked or if that is all the store had to offer.

One of the fruits that came to light for me within the last few years was the Acai berry. By now we are well versed on the nutrition that these little berries offer our bodies. Let me introduce you to another berry, the Maqui Berry. This berry is pretty exclusive to regions in Chile. These barriers are not grown in large fields by farmers or ranchers; they grow wild on bushes along roadsides and hills. The berries are vibrant purple and easy to spot.

There is a group of natives in the region called the Mapuche. They harvest the berries in large quantities. Because the Mapuche tribe are known as fierce warriors, they believed these berries gave them strength and stamina. They also believed that the berry heals and therefore used it as medicine.

The anthocyanin in the berry is a strong antioxidant. Antioxidants fight off free radicals that destroy cells in the body. A special kind of antioxidant in the berry helps with inflammation and inhibits the growth of colon cancer cells. Another type of antioxidants that are found in the berry help with cholesterol, which in turn helps fight off heart disease.

Maqui berry has also been known to even out blood sugars and evening out energy. This also helps with preventing new fat cells. Although further testing needs to be done, this magnificent berry may be used for weight loss.

It is a no brainer when we considered adding this to our African Mango blend. We carefully study our ingredients before including them on our blends to insure that you get the best that the earth has to offer.

Barley Grass-Antioxidants

When most people here the word Barley they usually associate it with beer. Barley when fermented does make a great beer. Barley grass however, is what I want to talk about. This amazing grass has way more vitamin B1 and calcium than cow’s milk. It has more carotene and iron than spinach and an abundance of vitamin B12.

It has organic sodium that helps break down calcium that is deposited in the joint.  Calcium deposit is what makes your joints ache. The organic sodium also help the stomach lining from breaking down. This in turn, helps prevent ulcers. Barley grass helps with digestion that leads to a healthy digestion tract.

Barley grass that is harvested strictly for juicing contains 45 percent protein. For people living a vegetarian lifestyle, this is a great replacement for protein. It is also a strong antioxidant. Antioxidants are super important for attacking free radicals. Free Radicals are these evil little things floating around in the body destroying cells. When cells start to get destroyed, disease settles in. I don’t know about you, but I want little soldiers in the form of antioxidants on a search and destroy mission in my body.

Because of the powerful antioxidant, we have added it to our formula in our Antioxidant Superfoods supplement. With antioxidants fighting off the free radicals, we feel better. With summer rapidly approaching, we definitely want to feel our best to get out and do summer activities.

What the Heart Really Wants

As a race I think we are all finally getting a little smarter.  We as humans are starting to realize that our bodies will not continue to take the abuse that we all seem so intent on giving it.  The problem is that even though more of us educated about this, not enough of us are doing anything about it.

As you age your body begins to create more and more stress on its joints and tissue.  This stress is caused by oxidation in the blood stream.  Obviously as you get older it gets increasingly difficult to prevent.  This is a process that occurs naturally in the human body.  Because this happens naturally, you need to take a more natural approach to mending the problem.  This is where the antioxidants come in to play.

There are many different foods that are readily available to anyone who wants to take advantage of the great things they offer the human body.  Besides that, Nature’s complete offers a wide variety of supplements that will no doubt correct this problem and get you back to way Mother Nature would have you be.

There are a few simple things you can do to keep your body from completely giving out on you.  And I think it’s the least you can do.  After all, how long have you been giving your heart an endless supply of junk?  If you’re reading this, it hasn’t given out on you yet.  So, I challenge you to pay it back and give it what it deserves, wants, and needs.
